Visitors to Anglesey will probably have their own agenda,But here are just a few that may be of interest.
Llanddwyn Island Part of Newborough Warren National Park, The Island has many historic buildings for the amateur historian, but is equally charming for lazy days and picnics. It boasts large rocky outcrops, rolling sand dunes, and pleasant beaches
Anglesey Sea Zoo The zoo is an exciting, award winning collection of sealife from around the coast of North Wales, as well as those from warmer shores. Amongst the many exhibits (at least on my last visit) they have an area for the rearing of Lobsters, a real-time tidal tank, and you are "guaranteed" to find a pearl in all their oysters.
Anglesey Race Circuit The circuit offers lots of action for race enthusiasts of all kinds, with 5 car race meetings, 3 sprints, 2 rallycross and 4 stage rallies. So if its a noisy, dusty day out your after, then this is the place for you. The circuit can be found just off the A4080 between Rhosneigr and Aberffraw
Beaumaris Castle, Beaumaris Gaol. An impressive fortress built by Edward I, towards the end of the 13 century, with commanding views across the Menai. You are able to walk along part of the defensive walls and passages. The Gaol is also worth a visit, and although still a working courthouse, you can still get the sense of menace the prisoners must have felt in days gone by. The treadmill which could accommodate six prisoners and was used to provide the gaol with running water is the only one still in its original position.
Just as a point of interest, whilst visiting the gaol, if you look across the road nearly opposite, there is a hotel (which at the present moment I cant remember the name of), but from which the landed gentry used to amuse themselves by heating coins up in the fire, and throwing them from the balcony, to watch the children trying to catch and hold on to them. Thank god for T.V eh.
